Having announced earlier in the week that the long-planned Black Adam movie is finally a go and set for release in December 2021, Dwayne Johnson has now revealed that the project will reunite him with Jungle Cruise cinematographer Lawrence Sher, who is coming off another DC project in the billion dollar-grossing Joker.
Larry Sher is a brilliant DP and a great dude!
We just worked together on Jungle Cruise and he’ll also shoot Black Adam. Glad you spent some time with him, Frost. https://t.co/cta3UoxtAT— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) November 16, 2019
Sher is a frequent collaborator with Joker director Todd Phillips, having worked with the filmmaker on The Hangover trilogy and War Dogs, while his other credits include Garden State, I Love You, Man, Due Date, The Dictator, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
The Black Adam movie is being directed by Jungle Cruise’s Jaume Collet-Serra, and while plot details are being kept under wraps, the film is expected to portray the DC supervillain as an anti-hero, similar to the modern comic book interpretation of the character. Filming is set to get underway this coming July ahead of a December 22nd 2021 release – making it the third live-action DC movie to arrive in 2021 after The Batman in June 2021 and The Suicide Squad in August 2021.
