Coming off of his first Emmy win for portraying the iconic Don Draper on the final season of Mad Men, it looks like Jon Hamm’s next role will be one alongside everyone’s favorite absorbent and yellow sponge. According to Vulture, Hamm has signed on to voice a character named Don Grouper on Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants.
Similar to Draper, Grouper is “a charismatic head ad executive” with a “sharp mind and devastating charm.” Also, a report from Variety says that he works for ad agency Grouper, Goby & Koi, and the sea creatures on the show “[lap] up his words like overpriced organic honey.” A rough sketch of the character, courtesy of Nickelodeon, can be seen below…
Hamm’s episode, which features SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs going to Grouper for business advice, won’t air until 2016, but in the meantime expect more new episodes of SpongeBob to be released very soon.
Mad Men finished up its seventh and final season earlier this year, and after earning eight Emmy nominations for his performance as Draper on the show, and 16 overall nominations, Hamm finally took home the big award at last Sunday’s award ceremony.
