Variety is reporting that Jonah Hill and Rooney Mara have joined Joaquin Phoenix in Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, director Gus Van Sant’s upcoming biopic of quadriplegic cartoonist John Callahan.
The project is based upon the 1989 autobiography of Callahan, who became paralyzed aged 21 after a car accident and turning to art as a form of therapy. His work was published in the likes of the New Yorker, Penthouse and Playboy, and also caused quite a stir in his hometown of Portland due to its depiction of taboo topics.
A biopic of Callahan has long been in development in Hollywood, with the late Robin Williams having circled the role for many years.
