Paramount has announced another cast addition to Bumblebee, the spin-off from Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise focused on the Autobot scout. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. will join Pitch Perfect 2‘s Hailee Steinfeld in the film.
Bumblebee will be a prequel to the main Transformers series and is the first of what Paramount hopes will be a long line of spin-offs in their own Transformers Cinematic Universe.
The film will be directed by Kubo and the Two Strings‘ Travis Knight from a script by Christina Hodson. It is set in the 1980s and will see Bumblebee use his original form as a Volkswagen Beetle. Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently said the film will draw from the original cartoon and bring it back to its G1 roots.
Lendeborg Jr. can currently be seen in Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as Jason Ionello, one of Peter Parker’s classmates who co-hosts the school’s news station.
