According to Variety, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) is being eyed to play NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden in Oliver Stone’s The Snowden Files.
Based upon Anatoly Kucherena’s book Time of the Octopus, The Snowden Files will tell the story of the former intelligence analyst who leaked highly classified documents from the National Security Agency before going on the run from the U.S. government.
The site reports that while no official negotiations have taken place, Stone has offered the role to Gordon-Levitt, who has agreed to star. Meanwhile, JGL has another biopic on the horizon, starring as famed high-wire artist Philippe Petit in Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk.
