Variety is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks with Universal Pictures about directing the R-rated musical comedy Wingmen, which will also see him starring alongside Channing Tatum.
The project is based on a pitch from Gordon-Levitt and screenwriter Michael Bacall (21 Jump Street) and follows two pilots who crash-land in Las Vegas. It is described as “Pitch Perfect meets Book of Mormon“, and will feature covers of Top 100 hits with a touch of adult humour.
Before Gordon-Levitt entered talks to direct, the studio was cricling filmmakers such as Seth Gordon (Baywatch), James Bobin (The Muppets) and Casey Nicholaw (Book of Mormon). However, it now looks like it will become Gordon-Levitt’s second directorial effort after 2013’s Don Jon.
