Long before he created a disturbance in the force with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, or gave the world Detective Benoit Blanc, Rian Johnson directed Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the neo-noir classic Brick, which led to science-fiction favourite Looper, and now the two are set to be reunited for the recently announced Peacock series Poker Face.
According to Varity Joseph Gordon-Levitt will join the Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll) headlined mystery series, which has been created by Johnson, who will also write and direct. Details of his role and how many of the episodes he’ll appear in are being kept under wraps, as is exactly what the show is about, but the report suggests that it’s an hour-long procedural in which Lyonne’s character will solve a different murder in each of the 10 installments.
It will be the fifth time the 30 Rock star has collaborated with Johnson, as Gordon-Levitt also provided a couple of voice cameos for both Star Wars and Knives Out, and yet another TV series to add his growing list of small screen outings, having recently appeared in both Apple TV’s Mr Corman and Showtime’s Super Pumped, which has just been renewed for a second season.
Johnson is currently in post on his Knives Out sequel, which once again finds Daniel Craig’s donut loving detective attempting to figure out whodunnit from an impressive cast that features Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick and Ethan Hawke.
