Glen Powell has found someone to face off with in his Edgar Wright-directed The Running Man remake. While not confirmed yet, reports have Josh Brolin in final negotiations to land the villain role; little is known about the part, but he’ll likely play the antagonist behind the violent reality show at the center of the film.
The film also stars Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brian, and Daniel Ezra. Wright is co-writing the script with Michael Bacall and will produce with his producing partners, Nira Park and Simon Kinberg. George Linder will executive produce.
The Running Man is a dystopian thriller that follows protagonist Ben Richards as he participates in the game show The Running Man, in which contestants, allowed to go anywhere in the world, are chased by “Hunters.” The novel has a bit of a “pop culture” and political energy, which fits Wright’s style. The 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger was very loosely based on the novel and only saw moderate box office success.

The Running Man is set for a November 21, 2025, release date.
