The cast of the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway stage musical Dear Evan Hansen continues to grow as the project has added Julianne Moore (After The Wedding).
Ben Platt (The Politician), who performed the title role on stage, is expected to star in the film as Evan Hansen, a sociacially-awkward teenager who unintentionally gets caught up in a lie when the family of a classmate who committed suicide mistakes one of Hansen’s letters for their son’s suicide note. Moore will star as Heidi Hansen, Evan’s hard-working single mother who tries to help her son through his anxiety, but isn’t always there for him.
Moore will star alongside Amy Adams (Justice League), who is set to play Cynthia Murphy, the mother of Connor and Zoe, played by Colton Ryan (Little Voices) and Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart) respectively. Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) and Nik Dodani (Atypical) also feature in the cast.
Moore will next be seen in Amazon’s The Glorias as Gloria Steinem and will also be starring opposite Adams in Netflix’s The Woman in the Window from Joe Wright.
