With production on Jumanji now underway, Sony has announced a number of additions to the cast of the film, which also reveals the plot for the Jake Kasdan-directed sequel.
Alex Wolff (The Sitter), Madison Iseman (Still the King), Morgan Turner (Remember Me) and Ser’Darius Blain (Star Trek Into Darkness) have all joined the film, and are playing the “real world” versions of Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Jack Black and Kevin Hart’s characters, who are actually avatars inside the Jumanji game itself. Here’s the announcement from The Rock’s Twitter account:

According to Jeff Sneider on Twitter, the film follows the four teens, who get sucked into the game during a detention and take on the avatar forms in order to locate a jewel.
In addition to comedian Rhys Darby (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) has also joined the cast and will play a character called Nigel. Nick Jonas (Scream Queens) is also on board, although details on his character are yet to be revealed.
Jumanji is set for release on July 28th 2017.
