It looks like those dinosaurs will be having quite the meal this weekend, with Jurassic World set to have a bumper opening.
Early industry box office estimates have the fourth film gearing up for a massive opening weekend both in the US and overseas, with US projections suggesting that it could open anywhere in the $110 million – $140 million bracket; more conservative estimates have the film just passing the $100million mark, but it is expected to exceed that number from its 4,273 theaters.
Overseas, early indications are that the film is currently tracking between $220 million and $260 million, though some industry insiders are suggesting it could open as big as $300 million from its 66 territories, including China, Australia, Brazil the UK and many other European countries. In addition, it has already broken a record, with the film set to have the largest global IMAX release ever, in more than 800 theatres worldwide.
Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Omar Sy, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Judy Greer, Irrfan Khan, Jake Johnson and B.D. Wong and opens in the UK tomorrow and in the US this Friday.
