Jay Oliva, the storyboard artist for Justice League, says he knew that the Snyder Cut would eventually be released.
Earlier this year, DC fans got the exciting news that Zack Snyder’s cut of the Justice League would be made public, with the film coming to HBO Max in 2021.
It was a long road with a lot of fan campaigning and hashtags but WB got the message and the decision was made. While it took a lot of people by surprise when the Snyder Cut was announced, storyboard artist for the film Jay Oliva knew it would happen eventually.
Speaking at the fan-organised Justice Con, Oliva said: “I knew it was gonna happen… I’ve been in pretty close contact with Zack for I don’t know, since probably the beginning of 2019. I would kinda talk to him every now and then on a pretty regular basis, not just for work, for everything… not just to shoot this sh*t and stuff… So, I kinda already knew the lay of the land where some things were going anyways. Again, I wasn’t a hundred percent positive that they would pull the trigger or when it would happen, I just know it’s gonna happen. Like I said in my tweets, I always say it just makes sense right? You already paid for this movie, there’s a large fan base who wants to see it, who’s willing to pay for it, why not? Again, this opens up new subscriptions, you know streaming service, what better way to get more to your streaming service than something that they definitely want to see and so I knew it was just a matter of time before it was gonna happen. Now the actual announcement… I didn’t know so that’s why I joined that event that Zack announced, I was just watching and I was like ‘oh, so this is what they plan on doing, that’s cool!’… I always knew it would come out, it’s just a matter of time.”

Clearly Snyder and the execs at WB were pondering this for a while so its great that they finally decided to go ahead with the project. Hopefully, the wait will be worth it and fans can see a version of Justice League that Snyder originally intended.
In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and features Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf and Ray Porter as Darkseid.
