Justin Timberlake to headline Confessions of a Dangerous Mind for Apple TV+

April 12, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Following the success of their recent collaboration, the redemptive tearjerker Palmer, Justin Timberlake has been tapped to star in Apple TV’s adaptation of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

As reported by Deadline, Timberlake will play gong-show host Chuck Barris, who revealed in his 1984 memoir Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, that his job as a TV entertainer was a cover for his real job as a CIA assassin, who took out enemies of the state during the 60s and 70s. Apple won the rights to the story at an auction and will now begin turning it into a scripted hour-long series for the Social Network star.

If you recognise the title, it’s because Miramax turned it into an enjoyable George Clooney directed Sam Rockwell vehicle in 2002, and they’re back on board as producers this time around, alongside Paramount Television Studios. Justified and Iron Fist writer Josh Worley wrote the pilot and is on-board as showrunner.
