Deadline is reporting that Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Avengers: Infinity War star Karen Gillan has signed on for a role in Call of the Wild, joining the previously announced Harrison Ford (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Dan Stevens (Legion), Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Colin Woodell (Unsane).
Chris Sanders (The Croods) is directing the live-action/CG hybrid adaptation of Jack London’s 1903 novel, which follows a dog called Buck who is stolen and sold into service as a sled dog in 19th century Alaska, where he has to learn to survive in the harsh wilderness.
Gillan, Stevens and Woodell are set to play a trio of stampeders who own and mistreat Buck before he is rescued by John Thornton (Ford), a prospector searching for gold during the Klondike Gold Rush in Yukon, Canada.
Former Doctor Who star Gillan is currently in production on next year’s Avengers 4, and will shoot Call of the Wild before beginning work on the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel early in the new year.
