Following the success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the follow-up Jumanji: The Next Level both critically and financially, the third instalment in the reboot series seemed inevitable. However, according to one of the stars of the series, Sony Pictures may not be moving forward with another film right now.
During an interview with Collider to promote the upcoming release of Gunpowder Milkshake on Netflix, Karen Gillan, who plays Ruby Roundhouse, revealed that she hasn’t heard anything regarding a fourth instalment in the action-adventure series.
“I actually don’t know anything about the next one. Nobody has spoken to me, so I think – I don’t know. I assume they’ll make one and I don’t know how they’re gonna tackle that. But I hope they make another one because it’s so much fun,” Gillan said.
Although Gillan has stated that she knows nothing about the project, this doesn’t mean a fourth instalment won’t happen in the future as the director Jake Kasdan revealed last year that he and his team were in the “very earliest” stages of development on the sequel with hopes that Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan will all reprise their roles.
