The Tracking Board has revealed that Katherine Waterston (Alien: Covenant) and Sunny Suljic (The Killing of a Sacred Deer) have signed on to star in Mid-90s, the upcoming directorial debut of Jonah Hill.
As you may have guessed from the title, the film takes place in the mid-1990s and is a coming of age drama which follows a teenager called Stevie (Suljic), who has a tough home life and finds solace in a group of young skateboarders. Waterston plays Stevie’s single mother (a role which was previously set to be filled by Michelle Williams, who left the project due to scheduling issues), while Lucas Hedges (Manchester By the Sea) is portraying his troubled older brother.
Katherine Waterston is currently reprising the role of Tina Goldstein in Warner Bros.’ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel, and will next be seen in Steven Soderbergh’s Logan Lucky and Alfonso Gomez-Rejon’s The Current War. Suljic meanwhile has The Killing of a Sacred Deer set for release later in the year.
