Kathryn Bigelow is set to make her long-overdue comeback by directing an untitled ticking-clock action-thriller for Netflix.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Netflix has tasked the Oscar-winning Zero Dark Thirty filmmaker with directing the real-time actioner, which will be centered on a group of White House officials scrambling to deal with an incoming missile attack on the U.S.
Netflix didn’t confirm any specific details about the project at their Upfront presentation in New York City, but sources reveal that the movie will be similar in tone to Bigelow’s 2012 hunt for Bin Laden hit.
The Hurt Locker director hasn’t made a film since 2017’s really-rather-good Detroit disappointed at the box-office, and was set to make her comeback at the streaming giants with an adaptation of David Koepp’s Aurora, before the plug was pulled on that.
