After years in front of the camera with her roles in Dawson’s Creek, The Gift and Batman Begins, Katie Holmes has now set her sights on getting behind the camera and is set to direct an adaptation of Annie Weatherwax’s debut novel All We Had, the story of a poverty-striken mother and daughter who find solace in a quirky town.
Josh Boone, who directed hit romantic drama The Fault in Our Stars, will pen the adaptation of the novel, and Jane Rosenthal (About A Boy) will produce.
Holmes said in a statement: “I am very excited and honored to be collaborating with Jane and Josh on this project and look so forward to bringing Annie’s incredible characters to the screen,”
Producer Rosenthal added, “Katie has such a clear vision for the book’s irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship. Her passion for the material, along with Josh Boone’s ability to tell stories grounded in the comedy and drama of everyday, will truly bring these characters to life.”
The film is set to be released some time in 2015.
