Keanu Reeves reveals John Wick 3 titled John Wick: Parabellum

July 7, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

It looks like that John Wick franchise is changing up its sequel titling for the third instalment, as leading man Keanu Reeves has revealed to Coming Soon that the next movie won’t be making use of ‘Chapter 3’, but is instead going by the title John Wick 3: Parabellum.

“It’s John Wick 3: Parabellum,” said Reeves, before going on to discuss the meaning of ‘Parabellum’: “Prepare for war. It’s part of that famous sentence, ‘Si vis pacem, para bellum,’” which translates as, ‘If you want peace, prepare for war.'”

Reeves also went on to touch upon the storyline, adding that: “John Wick is fighting for his life and thinks that Halle Berry’s character has some information for him. They have a past, and they get involved with The High Table, this kind of overlording entity [laughs].”

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

John Wick 3: Parabellum is set for release on May 17th 2019 and reunites Keanu Reeves with director Chad Stahelski and also features returning cast members Ian McShane, Common, Laurence Fishburne, and Lance Reddick alongside newcomers Hiroyuki Sanada (47 Ronin, The Wolverine), Anjelica Huston (Isle of Dogs), Halle Berry (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Asia Kate Dillon (Billions), Mark Dacascos (Lucky Day), Jason Mantzoukas (The House), Tiger Hu Chen (Man of Tai Chi) and The Raid’s Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman.
