It feels like it’s been on the cusp of announcement for years now, but Keanu Reeves has dashed hopes for Bill & Ted 3 by saying it’s, “closer, but not closer”.
“We’re expecting another draft and hopefully we’ll get closer,” he told IGN. “We’re trying to get the story right. We’re working with this studio so we have a little bit of support, in a sense of like if the material comes through we’ll try and make this picture.”
Back in 2013 Reeves had said that the current script for Bill & Ted 3 would cost upwards of $400 million to make (which was brought down to $150 million), and the last we heard was in March last year when his co-star Alex Winter said the movie was really close. The plot is said to surround Bill & Ted trying to write the song that will save the future that was promised to them in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. “The future comes back and says if you don’t write the song by this certain time the universe is going to unravel and history and everything is going to change and dinosaurs are gonna walk the Earth, Reeves said in 2014. “Jesus is playing baseball! All sorts of weird things start unraveling and wormholes are twisting.”
Will we ever see Bill & Ted 3? We just got Indiana Jones 5 so I guess anything is possible…
