Back in February it was announced that Netflix has snapped up the rights to Death Note from director Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest), and now Variety is reporting that Keith Stanfield (Short Term 12, Straight Outta Compton) has signed on to appear in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
Stanfield will join Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars) and Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers) in the cast of the manga adaptation, which has been penned by Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four).

Death Note follows “a student (Wolff) who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone simply by writing the victim’s name. A cat-and-mouse game ensues when he’s tracked by a reclusive police officer.”
