Back in 2013, it was revealed that 20th Century Fox had tapped Ridley Scott (Prometheus), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class) and Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan) to produce a new version of Agatha Christie’s 1934 novel Murder on the Orient Express, and now it seems the project has found a director.
According to The Wrap, Kenneth Branagh (Thor, Cinderella) is in talks with the studio about taking on directorial duties on the film, which sees the legendary detective Hercule Poirot looking to solve the murder of an American business tycoon on a journey from Istanbul to Paris.
The site reports that, much like the 1974 version – which bagged six Academy Award nominations, and a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Ingrid Bergman – Fox is looking to assemble an A-list cast for this latest take on the classic murder mystery.
