Kensuke’s Kingdom animated movie gets a U.S. trailer and poster

August 3, 2024 by Amie Cranswick

Following an acclaimed festival run, Blue Fox Entertainment has shared a poster and trailer for Kensuke’s Kingdom, the animated adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s bestselling novel of the same name.

Directed by Neil Boyle and Kirk Hendry, the adventure drama centres on Michael, a young boy and his dog as they are swept overboard during a sailing trip and wash up on a remote island where they meet a Japanese man who has lived there since WWII. But when their paradise is threatened by dangerous invaders planning on taking away island’s orangutans, the pair work together to save the animals from their cruel fate.

A young boy and his family set off on a sailing trip of a lifetime until a violent storm erupts, sweeping Michael and his dog overboard. After washing up on a remote island, terrified, they struggle to survive and adjust to life alone, One day, Michael discovers he is not alone when he is confronted by a mysterious Japanese man who has lived there secretly since World War II, angry that Michael has arrived. However, as dangerous invaders threaten their fragile island paradise, Michael and the old man, Kensuke, join forces to save their secret world.

The film features the voice talents of Raffey Cassidy, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy, Sally Hawkins, and Aaron MacGregor.

Kensuke’s Kingdom arrives in US cinemas on October 18th.
