Kevin Costner joins space race drama Hidden Figures

Kevin Costner has signed on to appear alongside Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer in 20th Century Fox’s space drama Hidden Figures, Variety has revealed.

The project follows Katherine Johnson (Henson), “a brilliant African-American mathematician who, along with her colleagues Dorothy Vaughn and Mary Jackson, served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history — the momentous launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, and his safe return.”

Hidden Figures is being directed by Ted Melfi (St. Vincent) from a script by Allison Schroeder (Mean Girls 2). which is based on Margot Lee Shetterly’s upcoming book Hidden Figures: The African American Women Mathematicians Who Helped NASA and the United States Win the Space Race.
