Kevin Feige talks Captain Marvel movie, new set photos arrive online

April 28, 2018 by Gary Collinson

In less than a year, Carol Danvers will make her big screen debut as Brie Larson talks on the title role in Captain Marvel, the first female-led superhero movie from Marvel Studios.

Out and about on the press tour for Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios chief and super producer Kevin Feige has been sharing a few words on the Captain Marvel movie, teasing her introduction in a chat with Variety:

“You’re going to get the most powerful superhero we’ve ever introduced and what I think is one of the most unique and inspiring origin stories,” said Feige. “Being able to tap into Carol Danvers story for the very first time — to bring that to the screen and tap into an era of the MCU we’ve never been in the ‘90s. To see a version of Nick Fury who has reached a point in his career where he thought the Cold War’s over and the best days are behind him.”

Meanwhile, as production on the film continues, a new batch of set photos have arrived online featuring Brie Larson and her stunt double. Still no sign of the classic costume though. Maybe they’re saving that for Avengers 4?

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) and sees Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island) leading the cast as Carol Danvers alongside Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lashana Lynch (Fast Girls), Gemma Chan (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Algenis Perez Soto (Sambá), Rune Temte (Eddie The Eagle), McKenna Grace (I, Tonya), with Clark Gregg (The Avengers), and Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
