Having dipped his toes into the Arrowverse last year by directing an episode of The Flash, Kevin Smith is set for a second outing with the Scarlet Speedster in the upcoming third season, and The CW has now announced that he’ll also be heading over to National City to helm an episode of Supergirl season two.
The announcement was made by the network during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour this week, where it was also revealed that Sharon Leal (Grimm) has joined the cast and will be portraying Miss Martian.
Meanwhile, Chris Wood’s mystery character was also unveiled as Lar Gand, a.k.a. Mon-El, a character who in the comic books has close ties to Superman (well, Superboy), as well as the Legion of Super-Heroes. This fits in with comments from Geoff Johns from back in January, where he teased “a hint of the Legion on one of our shows” and suggested that DC was keen “to get them out there soon.”

In Season Two of Supergirl, Kara has left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO., protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.
Supergirl season two will get underway on Monday, October 10th.
