During Warner Bros.’ DC panel at the San Diego Comic-Con last month, it was announced that The Flash solo movie is being retooled as Flashpoint, and it turns out the announcement was almost as much of a surprise to its cast than it was to fans.
“Don’t ask me any questions, I don’t know what’s happening, alright,” said actress Kiersey Clemons (Iris West) in an interview with Collider, before revealing that she only heard the news just before the DC Films panel got underway. “Yeah, well, I kind of like, right before [the SDCC panel] I knew and then it happened, but yeah, Flashpoint! Which means our script is probably done. That’s thrilling.”
If rumours are to be believed, Warner Bros. is looking at a 2020 release date for Flashpoint, so it would seem highly likely that any script is still very much subject to change, especially as the studio is still looking for someone to follow in the footsteps of Seth Graheme-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa in the director’s chair.
So far, it’s been rumoured that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman could appear alongside Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen in the film, while Jeffrey Dean Morgan has also teased the possibility of returning as Thomas Wayne alongside his Walking Dead co-star Lauren Cohan as Martha Wayne.
