Back in October it was announced that ABC had ordered a pilot for a revival of the classic 90s police procedural drama NYPD Blue, and now we have word on two original cast members who are set to return.
As revealed by TV Line, both Kim Delaney (Diane Russell) and Bill Brochtrup (John Irvin) have signed on to reprise their roles, and will feature as series regulars should the project make it past the pilot stage.
Written by original series writers and executive producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Wootton and directed by Jesse Bochco, the son of NYPD Blue co-creator Steven Bochco, the potential sequel series will follow Theo Sipowicz, the son of Andy Sipowicz (Dennis Franz), as he looks to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating the murder of his father.
In addition to Delaney and Brochtrup, the pilot has cast Alona Tal (Supernatural) as Detective Nicole Lazarus, and filming is set to get underway in February.
