In keeping with tradition, the Cannes film festival jury will be as starry as the talent walking the red carpet at the Palais.
After taking home the trophy for best actress in 2011 for her role in Melancholia, Kirsten Dunst will now be part of the panel handing out the awards next month. The Bring It On and Virgin Suicides actress will be joined by A-listers Mads Mikkelsen, Vanessa Paradis and Donald Sutherland.
László Nemes, the Hungarian director and writer of Oscar-winner Son of Saul, which screened at the gala last year, has also been named as a jury member. France’s Arnaud Desplechin, Italy’s Valeria Golino and Iran’s Katayoon Shahabi take the rest of the places. And as previously announced, Mad Max director George Miller will lead the 2016 jury.
They will decide between the 21 films vying for the prestigious Palme d’Or. Some of the highly anticipated world premieres are Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon, Pedro Almodovar’s Julieta and Park Chan-wook’s Agassi (The Handmaiden).
The 69th Festival de Cannes will run from 11th to 22nd May.
