Kong: Skull Island has become the third movie of the year to cross the $500 million mark at the global box office after Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and 20th Century Fox’s Logan.
The second instalment of Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros.’ shared MonsterVerse, Kong: Skull Island has earned $150.7 million domestically, plus a further $358.7 million from international markets, spurred on by a $123 million haul in China.

Skull Island’s predecessor, Godzilla, grossed $529.1 million globally when it was released back in 2014. The next MonsterVerse instalment Godzilla: King of Monsters is set for release in 2019, followed by Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020.
