Krypton casts The Fall’s Emmett J. Scanlan as Lobo for season 2

After revealing at the San Diego Comic-Con that the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo would appear in Krypton‘s second season, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Emmett J. Scanlan (The Fall) is set to star as the big-man in SyFy’s Superman-prequel set two generations before Krypton’s destruction.

Lobo is from the peaceful planet Czarnia, but was born with a murderous streak in him. When he was a teenager, he single-handedly wiped out the population of his species and became the last Czarnian. Now he travels across the universe on a motorcycle taking odd jobs that allow him to murder and get paid for it. He has frequently been a thorn in Superman’s side as well as various members of the Justice League.

Scanlan will appear in a recurring role as Lobo throughout the second season. Aside from The Fall, his other credits include Netflix’s Safe opposite former Dexter star Michael C. Hall, In The Flesh and is also no stranger to the DC Universe after playing detective Jim Corrigan in NBC’s short-lived Constantine series with Matt Ryan. There was talk earlier this year of Warner Bros. making a Lobo film with Michael Bay producing and possibly even directing the film,though no further information has come from that as of yet.

Krypton‘s second season will also expand to other planets as the unstoppable monster Doomsday is unleashed while also revealing the origins of season one’s main villain, Brainiac. Krypton will return in 2019.
