Back in April it was announced that Marvel’s big Netflix crossover The Defenders will start shooting later this year, with Melissa Rosenberg subsequently stating that she expected filming on the second season of Jessica Jones to then get underway in 2017.
Well, actress Krysten Ritter has been speaking to Digital Spy about the production schedule, revealing that season two of Jessica Jones will be shot back-to-back with the big team-up.
“They’ll be back-to-back. I don’t know if they’ll overlap a little bit,” said Ritter, who will be teaming up with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist. “It’s about to be a serious undertaking. I’m starting my physical training – lots of weight training and boxing.”
“I’m excited to see what happens next for Jessica, and the end of season one left a lot of doors open and questions unanswered,” she continued. “Kilgrave was her reason for getting up every morning. Saving people gave her purpose. I wonder how emotionally taxed she’s going to be now.”
Marvel’s next Netflix series Luke Cage is set to premiere on September 20th, with Iron Fist and The Defenders slated for next year. As yet, there’s no word on when we can expect Jessica Jones season two, nor the Daredevil spinoff series The Punisher.
