La La Land continued its march towards its expected Oscar success last night as the Directors Guild of America honoured Damien Chazelle with Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Feature Film at the 69th DGA Awards.
The win bodes well for Chazelle’s chances at the Academy Awards, as the DGA winner has went on to receive the Best Director Oscar on all but seven occasions.
Other winners on the night includes Garth Davis (First Time Feature Film Director for Lion), Ezra Edelman (Documentary for O.J.: Made in America), Miguel Sapochnik (Dramatic Series for Game of Thrones), Becky Martin (Comedy Series for Veep) and Steven Zaillian (Movies for Television and Miniseries for The Night Of).
