Lacie launches #PushPlay competition to discover the best undiscovered filmmaking talent

March 21, 2017 by Amie Cranswick

The rise of social media and video production sites such as YouTube, along with easier access to film making technology and software, has led to a rise in creative talent. Storytelling is a remarkable craft and LaCie wants to help discover the best talent within the creative professional industry.

Launching today, LaCie’s #PushPlay competition gives burgeoning filmmakers the opportunity to submit a short film with the ultimate prize of winning a rather splendid £10,000 state-of-the-art production suite, along with an in-depth two day mentoring session with Michael Paleodimos, Cinematographer for the Oscar-winning short film Stutterer.

In order to take part, participants will have to create a short film up to ten minutes long, to showcase a strong emotive performance, an exceptional plot, outstanding and imaginative skill in visual interpretation, all tied together by first rate technical effects – from lighting through to post-production. Emerging film makers will have until 17 April 2017 to submit their entries.

#PushPlay is a competition that seeks to recognise the best undiscovered film talent in the industry. As such the shortlist of the best films will be handpicked by industry experts based on those that deliver the most spellbinding, spectacular, clever and moving content. These include Flickering Myth’s own editor-in-chief Gary Collinson, Karen Woodham of Blazing Minds and Gordon Burkell from AOTG.

By putting a film forward, the competition entrants will have their films seen by not just industry experts, but they will also be available for the wider creative professional audience on the competition microsite here. As part of the competition, LaCie is looking for films that skilfully conjure up great comedy, drama or emotion. So, for all those budding filmmakers, they must upload their films to the microsite. For full details about #PushPlay, please visit the official site and follow the conversation on Twitter and Instagram using #PushPlay.

And good luck!
