The Haunted Mansion has some brand new residents, and one of them is an Academy Award-nominated actor as well!
In a new report, sources say LaKeith Stanfield is set to star in an upcoming new version of The Haunted Mansion. He’ll be joined by Tiffany Haddish, who will co-star alongside Stanfield. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the actors are still in talks but close to signing.
As per THR, the story will “follow a family that moves into the titular mansion. Stanfield would play a widower who once believed in the supernatural but is now a rather lifeless tour guide in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Haddish would play a psychic hired to commune with the dead.”
Helming this new film is director Justin Simien, who has previously directed Dear White People and Bad Hair. This project will serve as Simien’s first big-budget blockbuster. Katie Dippold (The Heat, 2016’s Ghostbusters) will pen the script for Haunted Mansion.
This will mark the second Haunted Mansion, though it will not be connected to the 2003 Eddie Murphy film. It’s based on a popular ride at the Disney theme parks and has served as a source of family-friendly horror fun for decades.
