With filming now underway on the Green Lantern series Lanterns, DC Studios’ first live-action TV offering under its James Gunn and Peter Safran-relaunched DC Universe, we now have a first teaser image of our two lead Lanterns John Stewart and Hal Jordan, played by Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) and Kyle Chandler (Godzilla vs. Kong) respectively. Although neither are shown in their Green Lantern costumes, you will not that Hal is wearing his Green Lantern Power Ring…
Chris Mundy (True Detective, Ozark) is serving as showrunner on Lanterns and executive producing alongside Damon Lindelof and celebrated DC Comics writer Tom King. The eight-episode series will follow the legendary Green Lantern Hal Jordan as he reluctantly mentors new recruit John Stewart as the duo embark on an investigation into an Earth-based murder “which leads them to darker mysteries and reckonings.”
Alongside Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, the cast of Lanterns is set to include Garrett Dillahunt (Where The Crawdads Sing) as William Macon, Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire) as Sheriff Kelly, Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever) as Zoe, and Ulrich Thomsen (The New Pope) as the iconic DC villain Sinestro.
