Good news for fans of Maggie Rhee, as Lauren Cohan has officially confirmed that she will be reprising her role for the upcoming ninth season of The Walking Dead.
There had been much uncertainty surrounding Cohan’s continued involvement in the zombie drama, with the actress reportedly rejecting a new contract from AMC and fielding pilot offers, which led to her casting in ABC’s Whiskey Cavalier.
“I’m going back,” said Cohan when asked by EW about her status on the show during an appearance at CinemaCon where she was promoting her upcoming movie Mile 22. “There’s a lot more Maggie story to tell. You know we’re not allowed to tell you anything, but it’s good.”
The ninth season of The Walking Dead will get underway later this year, and sees Angela Kang stepping in as the new showrunner. Following the disappointing, season-one level ratings for the most recent eighth season, the cable network will surely be hoping that Kang can inject some new life into its former ratings juggernaut.
