Lauren LaVera has leveled up from a slasher final girl to a full-fledged horror star.
LaVera has been tapped for the horror-thriller The Monster, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw 2). She’ll be co-starring opposite two-time Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou.
Bousman will direct based on a script by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane). The film is produced by Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts (The Ice Road) alongside Saw franchise producer Mark Burg.
The Monster follows “two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed. The con works brilliantly until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret who flips the game on them.”
LaVera is best known for her role in the Terrifier films but also recently starred with Tom Hiddleston in the Toronto Film Festival hit The Life of Chuck. Neon is releasing that Stephen King adaptation next year. She’s also starred in two episodes of NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime.
Principal photography is due to start in Connecticut this November.
