Laurence Fishburne to star in UFO drama Rendlesham

November 3, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in December of last year it was announced that British production company Eleventh Hour Film (Foyle’s War) is teaming with Sony for a UFO drama series entitled Rendlesham, and now comes word from THR that Laurence Fishburne has signed on to star and executive produce.

The eight-part series, directed by Joe Ahearne (Doctor Who), is inspired by the Rendlesham Forest incident, a.k.a. ‘Britain’s Roswell’, where a series of unexplained lights were witnessed outside of RAF Woodbridge, a military base in the UK occupied by the United States Air Force.

THR reports that Fishburne will play Tyrone, “a retired U.S. airman who was stationed at the base during the Cold War. When he and his family return to England to visit his wife’s dying father, he’s forced to confront events that have haunted him for 40 years.”

“I’m beyond thrilled this phenomenal and iconic actor will be leading Rendlesham as Tyrone and facing down one of the most notorious UFO mysteries in history,” said Ahearne.

Fishburne currently executive produces and guest stars in the hit U.S. sitcom black-ish, and has several feature films incoming in 2019 including Clint Eastwood’s The Mule, Richard Linklater’s Where’d You Go, Bernadette?, and the action sequel John Wick: Chapter 3.
