With Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and Josh Trank (Chronicle) confirmed as directing two of Disney’s planned Star Wars movies, it would appear we won’t have long to wait until we get some official details about the studio’s plans to expand the galaxy far, far away beyond the core Saga (next month’s San Diego Comic-Con looking a good bet at this point). Until we do hear something concrete from Disney and Lucasfilm, we’ll have to make do with rumours for the time being, and another one has surfaced today, this time from the usually reliable Schmoes Know.
According to the site, as well as Star Wars: Episode VII, Lawrence Kasdan is working on the rumoured Boba Fett movie, and is apparently taking inspiration from an existing EU story. If true, this would seemingly rule out Gareth Edwards from directing, seeing as Edwards is collaborating with screenwriter Gary Whitta on his Star Wars movie. However, with Edwards’ standalone feature set to go into production next year, and Boba Fett reportedly arriving in 2016, it’s also possible that Whitta is reworking a draft from Kasdan, or that Kasdan isn’t even working on Boba Fett to begin with. Hell, at this point, we don’t even know for certain that Boba Fett is getting a movie… although given everything we’ve heard, it certainly looks likely.
