When the ex-Guns ‘N’ Roses guitarist isn’t melting our faces with insane rock ‘n’ roll riffs and spine tingling guitar solos, he sometimes likes to try his hand at filmmaking, and specifically film production. According to THR, Slash’s new venture – which is still currently untitled – will be a throwback to horror classics of the 70’s and 80’s like John Carpenter’s Halloween and Friday the 13th.
Slash will be co-producing with Revolver Picture Company, a highly touted rising horror-only based production company, with the aim to start a new franchise. The rocker signed on after an extensive development meeting with representatives of Revolver. The script has been written by Brian Sieve (Boogeyman 2 & 3) and the project will reportedly be on a larger scale and budget to their previous movies.
Speaking about the project Slash said, “They had an idea that tied in perfectly with a theme that I was working on at the time. From there, together with Brian Sieve, I think we developed something awesome.”
Kelly Wagner, a producer with Revolver admitted that Slash “had been thinking along similar lines as us. It was serendipitous.” While Nick Philips, another representative claimed, “We knew he was into horror movies so we had big long dinner…He gets it, from the old Universal classics to the 70s, and yes, excitedly for us, the 80s.”
Slash started producing horror movies in 2013 with Nothing Left To Fear and is currently in development on The Hell Within. No word yet on when production on this new project will begin but Revolver have a few projects already lined up in the immediate future so we’ll keep you updated on any progress.
