Lena Dunham – co-writer and lead actress in HBO’s Girls – has been called ‘the voice of her generation’. Well now she can add ‘the voice of a Simpsons cast member’ to her resume.
EW is reporting that Dunham will appear in the Season 27 premiere episode called “Every Man’s Dream” and will play Candace, a 20-something pharmacist who befriends Homer during one of his latest spats with Marge. Candace is being described by executive producer of The Simpsons Al Jean as …”that funny, intellectual, slightly awkward, endearing tone that everybody’s familiar with [from Girls], so we were just writing it with her voice in our heads.”
Jean teased the plot of the episode saying “We wanted to take a serious look at what it would really be like to be Mrs. Homer Simpson…we wanted to do something that wasn’t like the other ones…[Candace] has tattoos—and we see some of them…I don’t want to say what happens but I’ll say with a Stewart [Burns] script, it’s always unexpected, and this one is definitely not what you would expect…. For those who are sick of marriage crisis episodes, it goes in a completely different direction than any before.”

The episode will air this Fall on Fox. You can check out Lena Dunham in the Girls S4 opener which premieres tonight on HBO and Monday 12th January on Sky Atlantic in the U.K.
