An English-language remake of the award-winning Another Round is coming sooner than expected. Deadline reports that Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson’s Appian Way, Endeavor Content, and Brad Weston’s Makeready have all acquired the rights to the film, with DiCaprio set to star.
Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round is fresh off an Oscar win, taking home the Academy Award for Best International Film. The rights to the film were reportedly sought after for quite some time, with everyone from Studiocanal to Elizabeth Banks throwing their names into the fight.
Deadline notes that original director Thomas Vinterberg narrowed the choice when Leonardo DiCaprio approached as this was a “chance to see DiCaprio in a new role, the vulnerable middle-aged man in existential crisis played by Mads Mikkelsen.”
The film was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film and four awards at the 74th British Academy Film Awards. It won the BAFTA for Best Film Not in the English Language.

Another Round “centers on four friends – all high school teachers – who test a theory that they will work and live better by maintaining a constant level of alcohol in their blood. Their initial results are positive with classes and results improving; however, as they continue the experiment, the results become more extreme.”
