With his schedule now a little lighter following the surprise cancellation of Ray Donovan, actor Liev Schreiber has now signed on to star alongside Will Smith in King Richard, the upcoming drama based upon Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard Williams.
The film is being directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green from a script by Zach Baylin, and “Baylin depicts the determination and fortitude of Williams, who trained his two daughters to play tennis, beginning on cracked courts in Compton, California, to later coaching them to Grand Slam wins and shaping them into two of the greatest players in the sport.”
Smith is portraying Williams, while Shcreiber will play noted tennis coach Paul Cohen. Saniyya Syndey and Demi Singleton star as Venus and Serena Williams respectively, while the cast also includes Jon Bernthal and Aunjanue Ellis.
