Following the footsteps of the great Mary Lambert before her, Lindsey Beer is tackling Stephen King’s iconic novel Pet Sematary. Deadline reports that Beer’s will direct a brand-new version of the story, which will debut exclusively on Paramount+.
Reports say the film will be a follow-up to 2019’s Pet Sematary but didn’t state anything more about the plot. Deadline explains that “even though early reports said this would be a prequel, sources now say the plot’s direction is still being figured out, and a prequel is not guaranteed at this time.”
Lindsey Beer is a budding name in Hollywood, coming in as a script doctor for this year’s Chaos Walking and penning the hit Netflix teen film Sierra Burgess Is a Loser. She was also in the writers’ room for this year’s box-office smash Godzilla vs Kong. Along with this new Pet Sematary project, Beer’s is also attached to Sony’s Silver Sable, a remake of the classic 80s film Short Circuit, and even a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
Beer has reportedly wanted to move to the director’s chair for a while and will use this as her launching point. She’s penned the latest script based upon an earlier draft by Jeff Buhler.
