Lionsgate is set to reteam with Antebellum filmmaking duo Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz again for another horror film. The pair will write and direct Rapture and sees QC Entertainment’s (Us, BlacKkKlansman, Get Out) Sean McKittrick and Raymond Mansfield as producers.
The upcoming Rapture will portray a family torn apart by warring beliefs and which must come together to unravel the mystery around the sudden vanishing of the global population before it’s too late.
“After the amazing experience of collaborating on [Antebellum], we’re excited to build a second film with these prolific and daring auteurs. Like with everything they do, Rapture will be beautiful, evocative and will pierce through the clutter, and we’re certain it will spark many important conversations. They are the kind of voices we need right now,” says Lionsgate’s Nathan Kahane.
The horror film will be Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz’s second directorial effort after 2020’s Antebellum, which recently saw its release re-scheduled till August 21st. That project sees Janelle Monáe starring as successful author Veronica Henley, who finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late.
