With the Power Rangers movie reboot set for release in 2017, Variety is reporting that Lionsgate has started testing actors for the team of Mighty Morphin’ heroes.
According to the site, Daniel Zovatto (It Follows), Ross Butler (Chasing Life) and Brian ‘Sene’ Marc (Major Crimes) are testing for the role of Zack (Black Ranger), with KJ Apa (Shortland Street), Austin Butler (The Shannara Chronicles) and Mitchell Hope (The Descendants) up for Jason (Red Ranger) and Naomi Scott (The Martian) and newcomer Stephanie Scott trying out for Kimberley (Pink Ranger).
The report goes on to state that the plan is to fill out the team with fresh faces, with a view to casting a big name as the antagonist.
Power Rangers is set for release on January 13th 2017, with Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) directing from a script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class).
