After losing its April 24th release due to the global health crisis, the newest horror movie from Lionsgate titled Antebellum found itself sat in limbo without a date.
However, the studio is hopeful theaters will be opened up for business by late summer and has now confirmed that the Janelle Monae-led horror film will see its release on August 21st.
“We believe that by August 21, audiences will be eager for the distinctive, unique story and voice of these groundbreaking filmmakers’ debut, Antebellum,” said Lionsgate’s David Spitz.
Antebellum will center around the successful author Veronica Henley (Janelle Monáe), who finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late.
The film is helmed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz in their directional debut and sees Monae joined in the cast by Marque Richardson II, Eric Lange, Jack Huston, Kiersey Clemons, Tongayi Chirisa, Gabourey Sidibe, Rob Aramayo, Lily Cowles, and Jena Malone.
