Hollywood’s trend of greenlighting any and all pre-established properties for feature films continues, as a live-action Tetris movie is now in active development. The film, based of course on the 1984 puzzler, comes from Threshold Entertainment’s Larry Kasanoff, the producer of the 1995 Mortal Kombat film.
At this point in time, there are no details on the project and no director in place. That makes it nearly impossible to envision what the final product may end up becoming. We of course said the same thing about The LEGO Movie, and that turned out okay. That’s no guarantee that Tetris won’t become another Battleship, though.
Here’s what Kasanoff had to say about the project:
“It’s a very big, epic sci-fi movie. This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We’re not giving feet to the geometric shapes. Brands are the new stars of Hollywood. We have a story behind Tetris which makes it a much more imaginative thing.”
Tell us, do you think there’s hope for a live-action Tetris film? Or are we nearing a boiling point here?
