With Disney+ in full swing, the streaming service is getting production amped up for its Lizzie McGuire revival series with Hillary Duff reprising the role. Today Disney+ announced another original star will return for the revival with Adam Lamberg reprising his role as Lizzie’s best friend David ‘Gordo’ Gordon. Duff and Lamberg made the announcement in a video which you can watch below…
“Gordo was an essential piece of the puzzle to what made the original Lizzie McGuire so authentic and beloved,” said Duff. “I couldn’t imagine the series without him. I can’t wait for fans to see what he’s up to 15 years later and how he fits into Lizzie’s adult world.”
The Lizzie McGuire revival will “continue to follow the story of Lizzie McGuire, who is just about to turn 30. She seemingly has it all – her dream job as an assistant to a fancy New York City decorator, her dream guy and a picturesque Brooklyn apartment – but things aren’t always as they seem. With a little help from her friends, her loving family and her 13 year-old alter-ego in animated form, Lizzie navigates the ups and downs of adulthood.”
Lamberg isn’t the only original star as the entire McGuire family is set to return with Jake Thomas, Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine reprising their roles as Matt, Jo and Sam while Fredirco Dordei (2 Broke Girls) will play a new character, Dominic Shaw. Lizzie McGuire creator Terri Minksy is also returning to showrun the revival with Duff serving as an executive producer.
Lizzie McGuire originally ran on Disney Channel from 2001 – 2004 and released a feature-length film in theatres in 2003. It has remained one of Disney’s most popular series since it ended its run.
